Dr. Shoumer has treated many adult patients with clear aligners. After determining the goal for realigning your teeth, Dr. Shoumer will fit you with a clear aligner. You can take this aligner out of your mouth to eat and brush your teeth. You might also take it out if you are drinking certain drinks like red wine that can stain the aligner.
Once that aligner has done its job, you get another aligner that moves your teeth a little more. This continues until the goal position is reached. Your treatment timing depends on your individual needs, and clear aligners cause minimal disruption to your lifestyle and appearance.
How Long Does It Take to Set Up Clear Aligner Treatment?
After Dr. Shoumer takes an impression of your teeth, it usually only takes about 5 – 6 weeks to manufacture the clear aligner trays and get them delivered to the office. At that time, you’ll get your first aligners, and Dr. Shoumer will give you instructions on how to properly care for them and answer any of your questions.
After that, you come in every 6 weeks to make sure everything is on track. These are short appointments with no poking wires or emergency adjustments. You can pay in full at the start of the treatment (and receive a courtesy for doing so) or we can arrange a payment plan that involves interest-free payments over the course of your treatment.
What Happens After Clear Aligner Treatment?
Once the clear aligner treatments are complete, Dr. Shoumer makes any necessary refinements to ensure you are completely happy with the result. These refinements are at no extra cost to you.
When you are completely happy with your new smile, you receive retainers to help maintain the position of your teeth. Dr. Shoumer will explain how to wear them.
