Oral Cancer Screening

We want to help you enjoy a beautiful smile, but also a healthy one. When you have an examination, we not only look for cavities, plaque, and gum disease, we also do a routine screening for oral cancer. There are certain factors which affect your risks of having oral cancer, among them age, gender, tobacco and alcohol use. Some of the oral cancer symptoms in your mouth may include:
  • Spots or sores
  • A sore that bleeds easily or does not heal
  • A lump, thickening, or rough spot
  • Pain, tenderness, or numbness
  • Difficulty chewing, swallowing, speaking, or moving the jaw or tongue

Part of our oral exam will screen for these symptoms, and we will discuss risk factors with you as part of our personalized examination.
